Power theft makes officials lodge police complaints against consumers

Authorities in Maharashtra are planning to lodge First Information Reports at police stations in a bid to check rising cases of power theft in the state. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) will initiate proceedings against consumers indulging in power theft of more than 3 KW load or whose power theft has been assessed at more than Rs 20,000, according to the company's managing director A. Pandey.
